Oberon coffee could be described as the Queen of Brazilian coffees. Only the best and
finestcoffees from Brazil’s Cerrado region find their way into Oberon.
The Cerrado is located in the southwestern part of the Minas Gerais state. It is a region
famous for its homogeneous climate, altitude and product quality characteristics. The
averagetemperature lies around 20C. The average rainfall of about 1.600-mm per year
occurs mainly during the rain season from December to March. The Cerrado with its
production area of around 140.000 ha is between 900 and 1.250 meters above sea level.
In this area there are about 3.600 coffee producers, the majority of them organized in large
cooperatives. All year long a work force of around 20.000 men and women are employed
here. This work force is necessary to take care of the plantations during the growth and
ripening time. During the harvest season this number raises up to 180.000 workers. All
working to bring in the coffee as fast as possible in order to guarantee the high quality that
this region is so well known for.
What quality is it that makes the Oberon so special? Already before roasting one can
observe the homogenous look of the beans. Its exceptional green tone and the large bean
size make it appear almost too good to be roasted or even consumed. Once roasted by
someone who understands his craftsmanship, you see that this almost incomparable
aspect can even be improved. It can now easily measure itself with the best coffees from
around the world, but not only in its appearance. It’s even more impressing quality is the
cup. Once ground and prepared with care, you will find nothing comparable. The full and
sound body mixes with a light acidity that makes it enjoyable even for sensitive stomachs.
